The Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt was
founded in 1964 in Tiflis. In 1990, its members
moved to Ingolstadt, Germany. Since then, the
ensemble has assumed a firm place in the German and
international orchestral landscape. Ariel Zuckermann
was appointed GMD of the orchestra in 2007.
Although the Georgian Chamber Orchestra
Ingolstadt presents music from the entire repertoire,
music of Georgian origin plays a special place in its
programs. This CD presents Georgian compositions
from the 20th century, all written by composers who
still have yet to be discovered.
The soloist in Joseph Bardanashvili’s Concerto
quasi una Fantasia for piano, strings, celesta and harpsichord
is Georgian pianist Alexander Korsantia. He
won the Sydney International Piano Competition in
1988 and the Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel
Aviv in 1995.
