Peter I. Tchaikovsky
Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64
Slavonic March in B minor, Op. 31

Aven though Tchaikovsky believed that he had „written
himself out“ after his Fourth Symphony, he composed
his Fifth within a few weeks. The world premiere took
place in 1888 under the composer‘s direction in St.
Petersburg. The premiere was only moderately successful,
but today the Fifth is one of Tchaikovsky‘s
most popular works. On this recording made in 2010,
it is complemented by the Slavonic March.
