The works of the composer Walter Braunfels (born
19 December 1882 in Frankfurt am Main; died 19
March 1954 in Cologne) is of great variety and comprises
nearly all genres, ranging from romantic lieder,
piano works and chamber music to very large symphonic
choral-orchestral works and several very successful
operas.
Each of the three works introduced on this CD can
be assigned to one of the three periods in the oeuvre
and life of this composer.
