János Tamás, who was born in 1936 in Budapest and
died in 1995 in Aarau, made an impact on Swiss musical
life beginning in the 1960s. Amongst his wideranging
musical activities as music pedagogue, conductor
and pianist, composing came to occupy an
increasingly central position. Thus his legacy consists
of a compositional oeuvre of about 120 works of nearly
all genres. The chamber-music compositions on
the present CD cover all periods of the life‘s work of
János Tamás.
