Today, 100 years after Reger’s death, his music-historical
ranking is undisputed at least in the German-speaking
world; however, his public presence is by no means as
great as his amazingly rich oeuvre, comprising all genres
except opera, would lead one to expect. Max Reger
was granted hardly more than 20 productive years. He
was no less intensively involved in the obsessive distribution of his works as his own agent and interpreter
– this personal union, too, was unique to him around
the turn of the twentieth century.
Following the conclusion of the composer’s complete
organ works with Bernhard Buttmann, OehmsClassics
now proudly presents yet another complete
edition – this time Max Reger’s works for the clarinet.
